No prior experience required; training is provided, and you will safely record gas meter readings, inspect meters for potential issues, and report equipment concerns to dispatch. Strong reliability and a safety-first mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Ability to pass a DOT drug screen and background check.
• Ability to walk 4–7 miles per day in all weather conditions.
• Proficient using technology (smartphone, tablet).
• Ability to read and understand utility maps.

Responsibilities

• Read meters on assigned routes using a handheld device.
• Inspect meters, piping, and regulators for damage or leaks.
• Report issues to dispatch immediately.
• Answer basic customer questions and direct complex inquiries to the main office.
• Open meter boxes and access properties while ensuring safety.
• Follow strict safety protocols and federal/local regulations.
• Communicate professionally with homeowners and the public.
