Job summary

UGI Utilities, Inc. is seeking a Construction and Meter Service worker to support field operations, including basic pipefitting, meter reads, and responding to shutoffs. The role requires physical endurance for long walks daily and the ability to lift up to 59 lbs.

A valid PA driver’s license is required; prior experience with backhoe/trencher, leak investigations, or meter changes is a plus. UGI promotes safety, service and integrity across 45 counties in PA and one in MD.

Qualifications

  • Basic physical skills including lifting and material handling.
  • Ability to walk long distances daily in all weather.
  • Capable of lifting up to 59 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce new employees to GOM, procedures, tools and handbook.
  • Use air and hand tools; operate equipment.
  • Perform basic construction tasks such as pipefitting.
  • Perform meter readings and shut-offs; locate curb valves via maps.
  • Manage collections and meter reading routes; replace ERT devices.

Job Summary

This position requires general knowledge and ability to perform basic construction and utility skills such as, but not limited to, vehicle safety, material handling, etc. The candidate must be physically able to walk long distances daily in all weather conditions. This position has potential for advancement into our Utility A program. Individuals with basic pipefitting, basic backhoe/trencher operation, working in confined spaces, meter turn on, turn offs, leak investigation and meter changes experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Introduction to GOM, company procedures, tools, employee handbook
  • Use air and hand tools and operate equipment
  • Perform basic construction skills such as pipefitting
  • Perform M&R SLIPS and shut offs at meter and to find location of curb vavles using map directions
  • Collections & meter reading routes, & cchanging out ERT devices
