Job summary

WPEC is seeking a seasoned Meteorologist to join our morning news team in Florida. The role involves presenting weekend forecasts on air and contributing to digital weather coverage across platforms.

The successful candidate will forecast, produce and present clear weather stories, issue warnings, create graphics, engage viewers on social media, and appear at public events while collaborating with producers on breaking news and daily weather coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience in weather presentation preferred.
• Experience with active and visual live shots is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Forecast, Produce and Present clear and concise weather casts and tell a story for viewers.
• Issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events.
• Utilize social media during severe weather and write weather stories.

WPEC is seeking a Meteorologist to join our morning news team. The Meteorologist will present weather forecasts during the weekend morning newscasts and work three days a week on the morning show, providing accurate and engaging weather coverage on air and across our digital platforms.

The main day to day responsibilities of the role will include...

• Forecasting, Producing and Presenting clear and concise weather casts, which tell a story and connect with viewers
• Issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events
• Utilize social media during severe weather, as well as write weather stories
• Make public appearances on behalf of the station
• Work with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations

What skills do you need to be successful in our role?

• Ability to demonstrate experience with active and visual live shots
• In Depth Knowledge of forecasting
• Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience in weather presentation preferred
