Job summary

Quantinuum is seeking an onsite Metasurface Resonant Photonic Design Intern in Broomfield, CO. The internship focuses on designing, simulating, and optimizing resonant photonic devices and collaborating with photonics and optics teams to deliver novel devices.

You should be enrolled in a Physics or Engineering PhD program and ready to return to your degree after the internship. The role offers a competitive hourly pay and housing support for candidates outside the state.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Physics or Engineering PhD program intended on graduating on/after August 2027
• Due to national security requirements, candidates must be a U.S. Person
• 3+ years’ experience (PhD inclusive) with computational modeling of photonic devices
• Experience with modeling using resonant mechanisms such as quasi-bound states in the continuum, Fano resonances, Mie resonances, guided mode resonances, non-local metasurfaces
• Experience with photonic modeling tools such as COMSOL (or other FEM), Lumerical, tidy3D (or other FDTD), RCWA
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, etc.
• Commitment to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co‑op
