Job summary

Nebula in El Segundo, CA seeks physicists and electrical engineers to design metamaterials, metasurfaces, and layered composites. You will work on electromagnetic, thermal, and structural aspects, validating designs with measurements and AI-assisted workflows.

On-site role with equity in a high-growth startup. You will own design rules, uncertainty tracking, and performance targets for an effective-medium stack used in antennas, filters and lattices.

Qualifications

• Degree in physics, applied physics, electrical or RF engineering or equivalent.
• Hands-on electromagnetic design with a full-wave solver and S-parameters.
• Experience with VNA work, TRL calibration and de-embedding.

Responsibilities

• Electromagnetic design of metasurface unit cells, antennas and feeds.
• Thermal paths, conduction and expansion in layered stacks.
• Structural design of layered composites and stiffness.
• Simulations: full-wave, quasi-static, thermal and elastic analyses.
• Measurement: coupon design, vector network analyzer tests, TRL calibration.
• Define design rules and propagate material properties with uncertainty.
