Job summary

MSC Industrial Supply Co. in Middle Tennessee is seeking a Metalworking Sales professional who will partner with Sales Managers and branch teams to grow our metalworking business across the assigned territory.

You will coordinate with suppliers, support MW accounts, and deliver technical expertise to customers. The role emphasizes cost savings, process improvements, and data-driven selling, with Salesforce activity tracking and a focus on market share growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• 2–5 years hands-on machining applications experience or demonstrated proficiency in MW applications.
• Engineering education, experience or background preferred.
• Lean or Six Sigma experience preferred.
• Manufacturing process experience preferred.
• Previous field sales experience with a distributor or metalworking tooling manufacturer is preferred.
• Previous experience with machining productivity improvement or cost savings initiatives preferred.
• Well-rounded proficiency across broad range of metalworking applications is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports achievement of metalworking sales and gross margin goals in their geographic area of responsibility.
• Supports accelerated MW sales growth within identified MW targeted Accounts.
• Supports accelerated MW sales growth with our strategic suppliers and in all MW categories.
• Supports Control Point customer vending opportunities to deliver MW growth and cost savings.
• Drives cost savings through manufacturing process improvements within core and National Account MW customers.
• Maintains a MW Opportunity Funnel in Salesforce to track progress and success.
• Logs customer engagement activities into Salesforce.
• Provides technical support for metalworking applications to sales team and customers.
• Coordinates local MW supplier support for tool testing in support of the sales team.
• Assists Regional Managers and District Managers in coordinating supplier involvement in regional meetings.
• Supports strategic supplier initiatives driven by the Category and Metalworking Management Team.
• Provides local exclusive brand technical and brand support.
