Job summary

Fastenal Co. is seeking a full-time Metalworking Field Application Specialist in Sandy, UT. You will manage projects focused on implementation, productivity improvements, and supply chain efficiencies for Fastenal and end users.

You will work with a metalworking team to test processes, identify parts, and ensure supply chain continuity at customer sites with strong technical support and customer service focus. 50%+ travel is required.

Qualifications

• Requires degree/certificate in CNC, machining, business or operations OR 2+ years of related work experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrate strong technical aptitude in machining and tooling.
• Willingness to travel 50%+ with overnights required.
• Lift, carry, and handle up to 75 lbs as needed.

OVERVIEW

Working as Full-time Metalworking Field Application Specialist, you will be responsible for managing projects focused around implementation, productivity improvement, supply chain efficiencies and profit dollar gains for Fastenal and existing end users. Working in this position, your technical expertise will be of critical importance as you work with end users who already have a need defined and an expectation that we will be able to run testing processes, identify parts and leverage partnerships to insure supply chain continuity. You will work closely with other members of the metalworking team who will provide projects at customer sites, which have already been vetted and require advanced technical support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Increasing speed to revenue by supporting customer implementation programs with a focus on onsite locations
• Creating supply chain efficiencies reducing overall operating costs while documenting cost savings
• Driving margin improvement through conversions with a focus on increased profit dollars
• Working towards goals tied to productivity improvement for customers with a focus on metal removal operations

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Possess a current full valid driver's license issued in the country where the job is located (including successful completion of any applicable graduated license program for your state or province) as well as the ability to meet our driving record requirements to use a company vehicle, as needed
• Possess a degree, certificate or diploma in CNC, Machining, Business, Operations related field of study OR have at least 2 years of industry related work experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite
• Demonstrate strong technical aptitude in machining and tooling
• Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented
• Work independently as well as in a team environment
• Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities
• Willingness to travel 50% + with overnights required

• Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 75lbs
• Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)
• Pass a background check, required by a customer/contract serviced by this location

PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Possess 5 years of experience with metal cutting tooling
• Possess 5 years of experience with CNC programming
