Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor seeks a Process Technician to monitor and optimize chemical and physical parameters in the manufacturing process, ensuring product quality and stable output on the production line.

You will track production data, adjust equipment settings, and perform routine tests to identify deviations from SOPs, collaborating with process engineers to implement improvements and scale new technologies for higher yield and reliability.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or technical certificate in electronics, manufacturing tech, or related field.
• Equivalent military technical training may be accepted.
• 2+ years of semiconductor process technician experience.
• Familiar with SPC, cleanroom protocols, and basic data analysis (Excel/MES).

Responsibilities

• Recipe Setup and Management: input parameters and verify setup through wafer evaluations.
• Process Condition Calibration: adjust parameters within specs and track changes.
• Process Optimization: identify key factors and analyze parameters for optimal conditions.
• Process Window Management: define the process window and margins to ensure stability.
• Quality and Stability Monitoring: monitor quality and respond to production abnormalities.
• Process Validation: execute and validate changes to protect product quality.
• Technical Analysis and Design: analyze and design to improve the process and yield.

Position Summary

In your role as a Process Technician, you’ll focus on monitoring and optimizing the chemical and physical parameters of the manufacturing process to ensure product quality. You’ll continuously track production data and adjust equipment settings to maintain stability and minimize defects. By conducting routine tests and analysis, you’ll also identify deviations from the standard operating procedures. Working closely with process engineers to implement improvements and scale up new technologies, will also be part of your role. Ultimately, your primary goal will be to maximize yield and ensure consistent output across the production line.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

• Recipe Setup and Management: Performing Recipe Set-Up, including understanding recipe structures, inputting parameters, and verifying the setup through initial wafer evaluations.
• Process Condition Calibration: Adjusting parameters within the Recipe Spec to maintain standards and managing the history of these changes.
• Process Optimization: Identifying key factors and performing sensitivity analysis on parameters to derive and verify optimal process conditions.
• Process Window Management: Defining the Process Window, setting upper/lower limits, and performing margin analysis to ensure stability.
• Quality and Stability Monitoring: Monitoring process quality and stability, and responding to abnormalities in the production flow.
• Process Validation: Executing and validating process changes to ensure they do not negatively impact product quality.
• Technical Analysis and Design: Performing technical analysis and design to optimize the process and maintain high yield.

Skills and Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Associate’s degree (AAS/AS) or technical certificate in Electronics, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Automation, Electromechanical Technology, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
• OR equivalent military technical training
• 2+ years of semiconductor process technician experience
• Familiarity with SPC, cleanroom protocols, and basic data analysis (Excel/MES)

The current base salary range for this role is between $26.00 - $33.00/hour. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance. This position may include access to controlled information or technology under U.S. export control laws. Employment may be contingent on either the applicant verifying that the applicant falls under the “U.S. Person” definition (including U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, and those granted U.S. asylum or refugee status) or the employer timely obtaining any necessary export license under federal law. The employer evaluates export licensing on a case-by-case basis and may decline to proceed with a job applicant in its sole discretion, as export license applications can take many weeks to process.
