Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Metals Equipment Engineer to monitor wafer fabrication equipment, qualify new tools, and drive data-based improvements in a 24x7 FAB environment.

The role emphasizes CPM changes, SOP revisions, and cost-reduction initiatives, with a base salary range of $76,000 to $95,000 and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in a relevant engineering or science field; new grads require GPA 3.0+ or better.
• Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or an equivalent language.
• Understanding of statistical methods.
• Change Point Management experience and Lean/5S knowledge.
• Structured problem solving (8D, 7-step, etc.).
• Proficiency with data analysis software such as Spotfire, JMP or Matlab.
• Troubleshooting equipment or process failures.
• Ability to wear clean room PPE and lift < 35 lbs; work in FAB environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the wafer fabrication equipment and respond to issues

• Uses software to analyze data, identify trends to make decisions about processing product.
• Makes adjustments when equipment parameters are exceeded and monitors process parameters when tools return from maintenance.
• Executes in line changes (CPM) to the process or equipment.
• Communicates technical information within the department through presentations.
• Completes other duties as assigned.
• Continuously revises Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Develops improved processes to increase capability.
• Monitor operations costs and develop cost reduction projects.

• BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or Computer Science (new grads need 3.0 GPA or better)
• Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent language
• Understanding of statistical methods
• Change Point Management experience and understanding of Lean, TPS, or 5S principles
• Structure Problem Solving (8D, 7-step, etc..)
• Software Data Analysis software (Spotfire, JMP, Matlab, etc.)
• Troubleshooting Equipment or Process failures
• Ability to wear clean room suit and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and lift < 35 lbs as well as work in tight fitting, FAB environment and sit at a computer for an extended period of time
• Ability to discern audible alarms
• May be exposed to yellow lights, blinking lights and potential to work with materials which contain hazardous chemicals
• Ability to support and/or work shift duties in a 24x7 manufacturing environment.

Compensation

The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $95,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
