Job summary

Vallourec is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician for our Metallurgy Lab in Houston, TX. This role supports the quality team by preparing and testing tubular product samples, ensuring accurate identification, traceability and reporting of results while maintaining a safe, clean lab environment.

You will collect samples, torch-cut and machine specimens, operate lab equipment, and uphold API/ASTM/ISO procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Forklift Operator experience preferred.
• Overhead Crane operating experience preferred.
• Must complete required company and job-specific safety and equipment training.
• Experience with torch cutting and tubular steel products preferred.
• Ability to safely work around heavy steel samples and laboratory equipment.
• CNC machining/ operator experience preferred.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of the team.
• Ability to accurately follow API, ASTM, ISO, customer and company procedures.
• Ability to recognize abnormal equipment conditions and communicate concerns appropriately.
• Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions and specifications and safety requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate test records and product traceability.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and comply with all safety policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collect, identify and torch-cut product samples per established sampling requirements.
• Safely operate cutting torches and related equipment to obtain test samples.
• Cut, machine and prepare test specimens using laboratory equipment.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and tooling per procedures.
• Develop proficiency in laboratory testing methods and equipment on the job.
• Perform routine housekeeping and 5S to keep a clean, safe lab.
• Support continuous improvement and safety initiatives within the lab.
