Northern Star Resources Limited invites graduates to join the Graduate Metallurgist Program at our Alaska operations. The two-year program blends hands-on grinding, gravity concentration, flotation, leaching and filtering with mentorship from seasoned professionals.

Eligible graduates will have a degree in Metallurgy/Materials or Chemistry. The role requires data analysis skills, strong Excel and MS Office proficiency, and a valid driver’s license. On-site camp living is part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience in a mill, mine or industrial setting is well regarded.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; extensive Excel skills required.
• Excellent data analysis skills.
• Current Driver’s License.
• Be able to pass a background check and post-offer physical.
• Ability to work unsupervised and display good problem-solving skills.
• Must pass a post-offer physical and drug test, plus background check.

Responsibilities

• Apply education in a gold processing environment as part of the Graduate Metallurgist Program.

Northern Star Resources Limited(ASX: NST) is a global-scale Australian gold producer with Tier-1 world-class projects located in highly prospective and low sovereign risk regions of Australia and North America. Since acquiring these operations, Northern Star has been able to significantly extend the mine life and grow the resource base of all of our mines by investing heavily in near-mine and in-mine exploration.

We currently have an exciting opportunity at our Pogo operation for a recently graduated, or soon to be graduating Metallurgist at our Alaska Operations.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Graduate Metallurgist Program is a 2-year program which gives graduates the opportunity to apply their acquired education in a gold processing environment, to learn from experienced professionals, as well as the opportunity to work for a multi-national mining company. The Pogo mill provides the ideal opportunity to develop knowledge of grinding, gravity concentration, flotation, leaching and filtering unit operations. This program ensures that individuals will be mentored to understand and complete key metallurgical duties. As part of the graduate program significant time is allocated to spend with operations, maintenance and mining departments to gain a full appreciation of the mine sites operation. Graduates who successfully complete Northern Star's graduate program will have attained the experience which can open up a career path as a technical expert for not only Northern Star, but for the wider mining industry.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree is required in Metallurgy/Materials or Chemistry from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Previous experience working in a mill, mine or other industrial setting is well regarded.
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office Suite. Extensive Excel skills is required and must be demonstrated.
• Excellent data analysis skills.
• Current Driver’s License.
• Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.
• Ability to work unsupervised and display good problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to pass a post-offer physical and drug test, as well as a criminal history and background check

WORK SCHEDULE & ENVIRONMENT

Incumbents in this position must be willing and available to work a schedule of 15 days on, 13 days off, up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Harsh weather conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, internet & cable tv programs. Cell service is available when using Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
