Job summary

AllSTEM Connections is seeking a Metallurgist to work in Texarkana, TX. This is a full-time, direct hire position. Yearly salary is $120-$150K with a monthly bonus opportunity up to 10% of monthly salary. Relocation assistance is available. Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7-4 or 6-3.

Reporting to the Technical Quality Manager, the role focuses on developing technical, quality, and yield improvement processes to support the client’s vision of being the best common alloy facility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, preferably Metallurgical/Materials Science Engineering, or equivalent of 8 years of experience in quality, casting, rolling or finishing areas
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with individuals and teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Able to work flexible hours as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the charge for ensuring all employees, customers, and visitors understand the importance of 100% safety compliance and maintaining an injury-free workplace.
  • Review customer specifications and prepare formal letters of acceptance or exception;
  • Reviews and approves/rejects practices, advising Customer Service and Production Planning of reasons for rejection;
  • Ensures that practices are designed and effectively deployed to meet customer requirements, while optimizing costs and profit potential;
  • Dispositions internal questionable material, determining if the material is usable by the customer;
  • Works with the production areas to investigate root cause and problem-solve to root cause;
  • Dispositions customer claimed material;
  • Works with Quality Systems to issue corrective action requests to responsible areas;
  • Works with the area Operations Quality and Process Engineers to develop effective corrective actions;
  • Monitors product characteristics for process capability to customer requirements and may act as Process Owner for assigned managed processes (es);
  • Ability to succeed in a metrics-driven environment.
  • Partner with the hiring manager to develop a short and long-term educational and career development plan.
  • Support the assigned area’s productivity and efficiency goals.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical/Materials Science Engineering or equivalent
8 years experience in quality, casting, rolling or finishing areas

SUMMARY:
