Job summary

Copeland in Sidney, Ohio is seeking a Metallurgical Engineering Technician to perform metallurgical sample preparations and support testing, R&D, and quality inspections. You will operate and maintain lab equipment, assist engineers, and ensure work meets safety and quality standards.

The role requires a high-school diploma with 3 years of experience, strong problem-solving, and proficiency in MS Office, with up to 5% travel.

Qualifications

• High-School graduate (or equivalent) with 3 years of experience.
• Excellent laboratory equipment troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience interpreting Customer Testing Procedures, Specifications, and Requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Exhibit knowledge of common testing standards, quality, and data systems.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs; ability to work with individuals at all levels.
• Ability to travel up to 5% for the position.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be available.

Responsibilities

• Prepare test samples (metal cutting, mounting, and polishing), set up, and adjust sample preparation equipment
• Perform routine corrosion and metallurgical testing
• Documents and present relevant data & results
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, tools, & machinery to ensure good working condition
• Work with other staff to meet work and testing obligations to satisfy customer needs (quality and timeline)
• Provide guidance and training to others on the metallurgical/materials Engineering team as required
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety & quality procedures (including 5S and daily safety audits), specifications, and in accordance with regulatory agency mandates
