Job summary

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in materials science or a closely related field.
• Minimum two years metallurgical experience in lab or production settings.
• Experience with ISO/IATF16949 requirements.
• Knowledge of chemical analysis methods and instrument operation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee sand and metallurgical labs, establish procedures, and maintain calibration of equipment.
• Provide technical support on chemistry ranges, inoculation procedures, temperatures, etc.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering on defect analysis and process improvements.
• Coordinate with vendors on materials selection and alternative methods.
• Maintain records to meet ISO/IATF16949 requirements and ensure traceability.
• Assist procurement of raw materials used in foundry operations and sign off on documentation.
• Input for calibration and performance checks of chemistry and temperature measuring devices.
• Review and revise lab procedures when improvements are needed.
• Supervise sample preparation and cataloging for microanalysis and archival storage.
• Participate in advanced quality planning and cross-departmental quality initiatives.
