Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Metallurgical Engineer in the Quality Department to enhance factory processes through audits, training, and root-cause investigations. You will become a SME on engine systems and contamination sensitivity, guiding discussions with peers and training others in best practices.

You will partner with facility teams, packaging and manufacturing engineering, and global suppliers to support engine cleanliness projects and drive sustainable change.

Qualifications

  • Analytical mindset with root-cause determination and corrective actions.
  • Strong communication of technical results to varied audiences.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials behavior.
  • Ability to influence teams and drive improvements.
  • Experience interpreting material test data and reports.
  • Familiarity with engine components and contamination issues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform contamination control audits and report findings to teams.
  • Collaborate with process owners to drive improvement efforts.
  • Work with packaging engineering and suppliers to cut contamination risk.
  • Conduct failure analysis of engine components and systems.
  • Disposition components for metallurgical conformance.
  • Evaluate new products, processes or systems and communicate results.
