Job summary

Sun Metalon Inc. seeks an Engineering Lab & Quality Technician to bridge our R&D lab with commercial production on-site in Wood Dale, IL.

You will perform hands-on QC on customer-supplied metals and support lab-scale proof-of-concept tests, ensuring data-driven decisions across the material lifecycle. The role requires a high school diploma or an associate degree and practical lab experience; advanced engineering degrees are not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or associate degree in Materials Science or related technical field.
• 2+ years in a manufacturing, R&D, or materials-testing lab.
• Experience with lab equipment and data acquisition systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
• Comfort working between lab and production environments.

Responsibilities

• Execute QC testing in production to ensure adherence to specs.
• Assemble and operate lab equipment for R&D trials with controlled conditions.
• Generate reports correlating lab results with QC data to identify trends.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of lab and QC instruments.
• Document observations and data from experiments and production runs.
• Develop SOPs and checklists for lab and production QA processes.
• Collaborate with engineers to translate QC findings into improvements.
