Job summary

Mid-City Scrap LLC in Massachusetts is seeking a Laborer to sort and process metals, operate balance and cutting equipment, and dismantle end-of-life vehicles. The role focuses on safety, accuracy, and efficient material handling.

The Laborer will identify non-recyclable materials, maintain a clean work area, and support routine labor tasks while following PPE and safety protocols. Prior forklift certification is preferred to assist with heavy material handling.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and parts.
• Basic knowledge of metal types and characteristics.
• High attention to detail.
• Good hand-eye coordination and stamina for repetitive tasks.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and sort non-ferrous metals using visual inspection and handheld tools.
• Operate balers, shears, and other machinery to process materials.
• Process and dismantle end-of-life vehicles including draining and removal of parts.
• Identify and remove any non-recyclable or hazardous material.
• Maintain consistent pace and accuracy.
• Assist with general labor tasks as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area.
