Job summary

The Externals Group in Flat Rock, North Carolina, is seeking a dependable Metal Shop Foreman to lead fabrication operations in our on-site shop.

This hands-on role focuses on quality, safety, organization, and timely production, with a Monday–Friday schedule and overtime as needed; DOE salary in the $65k–$75k range plus benefits.

You will mentor crew, coordinate with project teams, and help uphold company standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in metal shop fabrication or a similar hands-on production role.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A reliable, team-first attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
• Ability to work Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with overtime as needed.
• Comfortable following and enforcing company rules, safety standards, and quality procedures.

Responsibilities

• Review, program, and fabricate all metal orders to meet quality standards.
• Maintain organization and functionality of on-site materials and inventory in the Metal Shop.
• Submit costing sheets for the Project Management team.
• Prioritize and organize production of orders based on company needs.
• Troubleshoot and solve production issues to keep operations running smoothly.
• Assist coworkers across the Main Office, Metal Shop, and Warehouse as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop and property, including yard upkeep.
• Communicate professionally with team members and customers, and uphold company standards.

The Externals Group are working with a well-established roofing contractor that prioritizes people, culture, and doing things the right way. Their Metal Shop plays a key role in keeping projects moving, and they're looking for a dependable, hands-on Shop Foreman to join the team.

A Day in the Life:

• Review, program, and fabricate all metal orders to meet quality and production standards
• Maintain organization and functionality of on-site materials and inventory in the Metal Shop
• Submit costing sheets for the Project Management team
• Prioritize and organize production of orders based on the best interest of the company
• Troubleshoot and problem-solve to keep production running smoothly
• Assist coworkers across the Main Office, Metal Shop, and Warehouse as needed
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop and property, including general yard work and upkeep
• Communicate clearly and professionally with Team Members and customers, and help hold others accountable to company standards
