Job summary

Ryerson, a long‑standing provider of industrial metal products, invites applications for a Shear Operator. You will cut and process metal, pull and stage feedstock, inspect finished products, and manage packaging per customer specs.

Successful candidates will undergo a skills-based assessment, have metals warehouse experience and forklift/side-loader skills. Apprenticeship onboarding is included.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Metals warehouse experience with knowledge of structural steel preferred.
• Forklift/side-loader experience.
• Must safely operate cranes with minimal supervision.
• Ability to use standard measuring tools (tape measure, micrometer, caliper) and pneumatic hand tools.
• Onboarding includes enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Operate a shear machine to cut & process metal.
• Pull and stage feedstock for production orders.
• Finish and inspect product to meet customer specifications.
• Final packaging of material per customer specification.
• Work order confirmation on computer.
• Operate an overhead crane to move material as needed.
• Operate a forklift or side loader to move material as needed.
• All other duties as assigned or may change at any time with or without notice.
