Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Fabrication Machine Operator for a Custom Metal Fabrication shop in St. Paul, MN. You will run multiple metalworking machines from setup to final inspection, interpreting blueprints and ensuring high-quality custom components.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of fabrication experience, mechanical aptitude, and strong measuring skills, with hands-on work in press brakes, band saws, lathes and mills. Onsite role with competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints and sketches to determine job requirements and the sequence of operations.
  • Set up jigs, fixtures, and tooling for accurate production.
  • Operate fabrication machinery including press brakes, band saws, drill presses, manual lathes and mills.
  • Inspect parts throughout production using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and precision tools.
  • Perform in‑process and final quality checks for dimensional accuracy.
  • Debur and finish components to remove sharp edges and meet safety/quality standards.
  • Maintain tooling and equipment including sharpening drill bits and preventive maintenance.
  • Cut steel, aluminum, and plastics for fabrication work.
  • Support junior operators when time allows.
  • Report equipment issues to maintain safe operations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area to support efficiency and safety.

Fabrication Machine Operator – Custom Metal Fabrication | Full‑Cycle Production

Join a craftsmanship‑driven fabrication shop where you’ll run a variety of metalworking machines from setup through final inspection. This role is ideal for mechanically inclined operators who enjoy hands‑on work, interpreting blueprints, and producing high‑quality custom components.

What You’ll Do
  • Interpret blueprints and sketches to determine job requirements and the correct sequence of operations
  • Set up jigs, fixtures, and tooling for accurate and efficient production
  • Operate fabrication machinery including press brakes, band saws, drill presses, manual lathes, manual mills, plate rolls, and more
  • Inspect parts throughout production using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and precision tools
  • Perform in‑process and final quality checks to ensure dimensional accuracy
  • Debur and finish components to remove sharp edges and meet safety/quality standards
  • Maintain tooling and equipment including sharpening drill bits and performing basic preventive maintenance

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St Paul, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
