Qualifications

• 2+ years in metal fabrication design or structural drafting.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models for custom metal fabrication projects.
• Develop shop drawings, material call outs and cut lists for project coordinators.
• Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and project managers to ensure design accuracy.
• Review and interpret client specifications, blueprints, and technical requirements.
• Perform design revisions and updates based on engineering feedback or field conditions.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, tolerances, and fabrication best practices.
• Support estimating and quoting processes with accurate material takeoffs.

About the Role:

Metspec Inc is looking for a talented Metal Fabrication CAD Designer to join our team in Monterey, CA! In this role, you'll bring precision engineering and creative problem-solving together to design metal components and assemblies that go from concept to production. If you thrive in a hands-on technical environment and have a passion for fabrication, we want to hear from you. This postion involves working on custom work, not repetitive drafting. The opportunity to work on one-of-a-kind architectural and specialty metal projects.

Direct collaboration with fabricators. The successful candidate will see how their drawings translate into actual finished work. This is a full time in person position.
