Job summary

Industrial Metal Supply Co. (IMS) in San Jose, CA is seeking a Machine Saw Operator to safely operate forklifts, side loaders and other industrial equipment, moving raw metal materials to cutting cells and supporting production.

This entry-level role offers hands-on learning with plate, band and shear saws in a fast-paced metal distribution environment. This position requires basic math and mechanical skills, experience with micrometers/calipers, and 1+ year(s) operating a forklift and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic math and mechanical skills.
• Experience with measurement hand tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• 1+ years’ experience operating a forklift.
• 1+ years' experience working on a saw machine, or other industrial machinery.
• 1+ year of experience working in a warehouse, production, distribution or manufacturing environment.
• Read, write, and speak in English.
• Experience in the metal cutting/distribution industry is a plus.
• Ability to lift up-to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Pull orders from inventory, deliver production materials to other cells, and stage finished product for distribution.
• Inspect cut material for accuracy and defects using measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
• Contribute to the orderly operation of stock and/or materials storage area.
• Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.
