Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. seeks a Technical Process Engineer in Muskegon, MI to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve melting and manufacturing processes including VIM, AOD, and continuous casting.

You will analyze trends, write work instructions, investigate lab results, and drive improvements across equipment, materials, and utilities. The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering and 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, with familiarity in liquid metal processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
• 5+ years' experience manufacturing engineering preferred.
• Experience in liquid metal processing (VIM, AOD, Casting, etc.) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze process control trends.
• Write procedures and manufacturing work instructions.
• Investigate unexpected lab results.
• Conduct studies, analyze data, evaluate operations, and improve utilization of equipment, personnel, materials, and utilities.
• Review yield and productivity data, identify and investigate outliers.
• Lead cost reduction, interference management and labor productivity improvement efforts.
• Develop and establish best manufacturing practices and processes and assure their implementation.
• Evaluate equipment, operational sequences, and material flows to determine job functions and opportunities for automation.
• Lead activities to improve data collection methods and update standards to model workload capacities.
• Collaborate with outside suppliers, service providers, vendors, and equipment manufacturers as needed.
• Assist in maintaining and developing state-of-the-art manufacturing technology.
• Prepare reports, communicate findings, and provide operator training.
• Manage assigned projects with timely completion.
• Provide technical support across the organization.
• Facilitate root cause corrective action investigations and implement items.
• Support capital equipment scoping, design review and implementation.
• Pursue professional growth through seminars, courses, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
