Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center seeks a Transport Technician to move patients, specimens, and pharmaceutical goods across the Medical Center. You will maintain wheelchairs, stretchers, and rolling stock to ensure readiness and safety.

The role requires high school completion and 1–3 years of experience with strong English reading/writing abilities. Evening shifts may apply; daily operations include pneumatic tube management and urgent response support.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients, specimens, and pharmaceutical goods within the Medical Center.
• Routinely collect and maintain wheelchairs and stretchers; ensure rolling stock is clean and operational.
• Maintain clerical records and log sheets accurately and timely.
• Operate the pneumatic tube system when needed and ensure transfers are prompt.
• Provide assistance in emergencies when required.

Essential Functions

1. 1. Transports patients, specimens and pharmaceutical goods throughout Medical center.
   * Assigned transports are completed safely, efficiently and within established time frames.
2. 2. Routinely collects and maintains wheelchairs and stretchers (including cleaning).
   * Rolling stock is clean and operational.
3. 3. Maintains clerical records as needed.
   * Log sheets are completed accurately and timely.
4. 4. Maintains and operates pneumatic tube system when necessary.
   * Completes transfers of pneumatic tube timely and efficiently. 100% compliance to departmental standards.
5. 5. Perform related duties as required.
   * Assistance is provided in emergency situations on a timely and reliable basis.
