Job summary

Siemens Energy/Siemens Gamesa is seeking a Wind Turbine Technician for the Maljamar, NM area to service and maintain wind turbines. You will work in demanding and hazardous conditions, performing repairs and preventive maintenance, and collaborate with fellow technicians to keep wind farms operating safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic fields preferred; college degree in related wind farm work desirable.
• Must be able to work safely in a team and meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less; medical clearance required.
• Strong planning and prioritization for daily/weekly work with quality focus; able to analyze and resolve problems independently.
• Hands-on experience with electrical systems including PLC programming and converters.
• Experience interacting with customers at various levels of responsibility.
• Travel up to 15% to sites/trainings in the US; must have a valid Passport and Driver’s License.

A Snapshot of Your Day

In this role, you will be responsible for servicing and maintaining Siemens Gamesa wind turbines. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional service, ensuring prompt and efficient repairs, and collaborating effectively with fellow technicians in demanding and hazardous conditions.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Enhance wind farm operations by implementing improvements in daily tasks.

• Work inside the wind turbine enclosure at an elevated height of 300 feet.

• Maintain composure and clear thinking in stressful or hazardous situations to ensure safety and efficiency.

• Meet the physical demands of the role, including: Ladder and stair climbing, Prolonged standing and walking, Lifting, bending, and twisting, Overhead work, pushing, and pulling, Exposure to vibration, chemicals, confined spaces, and extreme weather conditions

• Take on additional roles and responsibilities efficiently to support wind farm operations.

• Foster teamwork and collaboration by working effectively with colleagues to achieve shared goals. Approach challenges with determination and adaptability to ensure continued success in a demanding environment.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent is required. 2 or more years’ experience in a mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic field preferred. A College degree or equivalent competency in a field related to the work of a wind farm technician ie: electrical / mechanical systems is desirable. Various combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

• Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment. Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by the safety regulations. Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position.

• Strong ability to prioritize and plan daily/weekly work with a high level of quality orientation, ability to analyze and resolve problems independently.

• Hands on experience working with electrical systems including PLC programming and converters.

• Experience interacting with customers at various levels of responsibility within their respective organizations.

• Traveling (up to 15%) to sites within our district, training facilities in the US, or additional locations is a requirement of the job. Must be eligible to hold a valid Passport and Driver’s License.
