Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in MES, SCADA, industrial automation, or manufacturing software development.
• Ignition expertise: strong experience developing and supporting Ignition applications in live manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and maintain Ignition applications (Perspective, Vision, Designer).
• Design Ignition integrations connecting PLCs, MES, ERP, SCADA, and SQL Server for real-time monitoring and reporting.
• Configure Ignition tag structures, alarms, notifications, historian data, and user security.
• Troubleshoot Ignition gateway performance and system interfaces.
• Test and validate MES systems for shop-floor accuracy and reliability.
• Collaborate in self-managed, cross-functional teams to resolve issues promptly.

Job Title: MES Software Engineer

Client: Direct

Location: Jeffersonville, IN (Onsite)

Position Type: Contract (Temp-to-Hire potential after 04/01/2027)

Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (includes 20-min paid lunch)

Pay Rate: $41.00 - $53.00/hr (Includes +$1.00/hr shift differential)

Compliance Requirement: US Person status defined by ITAR/EAR

Role Overview

The MES Software Engineer serves as a shop-floor subject matter expert for manufacturing applications and machine integrations. This role plays a critical part in implementing production line systems, building real-time data visualization platforms, and enhancing core MES/Operations/Quality modules.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and maintain Ignition by Inductive Automation applications, including Perspective, Vision, and Designer modules.
• Design and implement Ignition integrations connecting PLCs, MES, ERP, SCADA, and SQL Server databases to support real-time monitoring and reporting.
• Configure Ignition tag structures, alarms, notifications, historian data collection, and user security per company standards.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Ignition gateway performance, communications, and manufacturing system interfaces.
• Conduct testing and validation of MES systems to ensure shop-floor accuracy and reliability.
• Collaborate within self-managed, cross-functional teams to resolve operational issues promptly.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in MES, SCADA, industrial automation, or manufacturing software development.
• Ignition Expertise: Strong preferred experience developing and supporting Ignition applications in a live manufacturing environment.
• Work Environment Capabilities: Comfortable wearing required PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection) in a dynamic plant environment with moving machinery and variable sound levels.
