Job summary

Vulcan Elements Inc. seeks a Manufacturing Data & MES Engineer to own the MES data backbone from a pilot facility to a planned 1 million square foot expansion.

You will partner with vendor teams, close live-data gaps, and shape platform-neutral data architecture that will survive future SCADA, batch, MES, and historian stacks. The role requires deep technical expertise across manufacturing systems and data engineering, with ownership of integration, localization, and reporting for process

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years in manufacturing systems and data engineering.
• Strong SQL and relational DB design plus time-series data handling.
• Experience linking plant-floor systems (historians, SCADA, PLC data) with ERP/business systems.

Responsibilities

• Embed with pilot MES implementation and own system after handover through go-live and stabilization.
• Close data-integration gaps: batch context, historian mapping, and robust interface plumbing between plant-floor and business systems.
• Design plant data architecture, entity models, and an ownership contextualization database independent of any single vendor.
• Build REST interfaces and ETL/pipeline code with error handling and logging for the business data team.
• Deliver platform-evaluation criteria and analytics deliverables for process engineering.
