Mergers & Acquisitions Financial Analyst (Remote)

Position Overview: As a Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Team in their evaluation of a potential acquisition firm’s accounting practices in comparison to Patriot’s accounting standards. You will work to ensure the data integrity and accuracy of the presented financial statements and assist in formulating a strategic plan for the new firm’s alignment with Patriot’s standard operating policies and procedures, post-acquisition. The position will report to the Vice President of Accounting Integration and Due Diligence.

Work location arrangements: This position is a full time, fully remote position with a preference for qualified candidates in the U.S. Eastern or Central time zones.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Obtain financial and accounting related data from potential acquisition parties in various formats
  • Formulate the data needed into standard templated spreadsheets via Excel
  • Collaborate with potential acquisition firm personnel, including meetings to gain further insight on the firm's accounting operations and data.
  • Work with both firm personnel and the Patriot M&A team to analyze and organize the financial data provided to validate an assessment of the accounting personnel and the integrity of their books
  • Track financial due diligence documents and issues to ensure these are received, validated and/or resolved
  • Ensure various milestones are met in accordance with the project plan and the timeline
  • Supply leadership with supporting information and feedback on a potentially acquired firm that can assist in decision making
  • Based on pre-acquisition analysis, formulate steps that will be needed post-acquisition to bring the acquired firm into alignment with Patriot’s accounting policies and procedures
  • Prepare materials outlining the firm's strengths and weaknesses, and a proposed plan of action to be shared with the Integration team
  • Collaborate with Patriot's M&A team, Integration team, and AMS Conversion team to ensure complete knowledge transfer and a smooth transition for the firm to become a fully integrated entity
  • Attend and participate in on-site events and meetings with the firm and Patriot's M&A team during specific points in the acquisition process as required

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in an insurance, brokerage or MGA/MGU environment
  • Working knowledge with Applied Epic, BenefitPoint and other agency management systems
  • Prior work experience with detailed financial statement analysis
  • Prior involvement with a large organization’s acquisition process and systems implementation
  • 3-5+ years’ experience working with formatting data in Microsoft Excel.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including data formatting, lookups, pivot tables, and formulas
  • Strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to take on a variety of projects, complete tasks, and adapt to changing business needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Proven record to handle diverse workload and meet critical deadlines within budget
  • Possess personal and business integrity with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future

Compensation Range: A starting base salary in the $85,000 - $100,000 range, depending on the candidate’s experience. This position is also eligible for additional incentive compensation that is performance based.

*A wide salary range is posted for this position, and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the required state pay transparency law. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. There is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
