We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Emergency Management Coordinator to support emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities. This position will help coordinate emergency plans, drills, training programs, communications, resources, and response activities to ensure the organization is prepared to respond effectively to emergencies and disasters.
This is a full-time position offering $65,000–$85,000 per year, depending on experience, emergency-management expertise, certifications, and qualifications. Candidates with experience in emergency planning, disaster response, business continuity, public safety, or government emergency-management programs may be considered toward the upper end of the compensation range.
The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, highly organized, an excellent communicator, and capable of coordinating multiple teams and priorities during both routine preparedness activities and emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with developing, updating, and maintaining emergency response and continuity plans.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities.
- Organize emergency drills, exercises, simulations, and training programs.
- Maintain emergency contact lists, response procedures, resource inventories, and other preparedness documentation.
- Coordinate with internal departments, emergency responders, government agencies, vendors, and community partners.
- Assist with emergency communications and notification procedures.
- Monitor potential hazards and emerging emergency situations and provide timely updates to leadership.
- Support emergency operations center activities when activated.
- Assist with coordinating personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, and other emergency resources.
- Document emergency incidents, response activities, lessons learned, and corrective actions.
- Participate in post-incident reviews and help implement improvements.
- Maintain compliance with applicable emergency-management policies, regulations, and standards.
- Support business continuity and disaster-recovery initiatives.
- Help develop educational materials and training programs for employees and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, plans, and emergency-management documentation.
- Participate in emergency response activities outside normal business hours when required.
- Perform other emergency-management and operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Homeland Security, Disaster Management, Public Safety, Business Continuity, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 2+ years of experience in emergency management, disaster preparedness, public safety, business continuity, risk management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to coordinate multiple teams, projects, and deadlines.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Ability to work outside normal business hours during emergencies or exercises when required.
Preferred
- FEMA emergency-management training or related certifications.
- Experience with Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) concepts.
- Experience developing emergency response plans and continuity plans.
- Experience coordinating emergency exercises and drills.
- Experience working with government agencies, first responders, healthcare organizations, or large businesses.
- Knowledge of hazard mitigation, disaster recovery, crisis communications, or business continuity.
- Experience with emergency notification and incident-management systems.
- Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or similar professional certification.
Compensation & Benefits
The compensation for this position is $65,000–$85,000 per year, depending on emergency-management experience, certifications, technical knowledge, and overall qualifications.
Candidates with significant experience in emergency planning, incident coordination, business continuity, disaster response, or public-sector emergency management may be considered toward the upper end of the range.
