A leading foodservice and distribution organisation is seeking a Merchandising Coordinator to support merchandising operations and provide transactional and administrative support to sales teams. The role acts as a key liaison between Sales, Buyers and Category Management, helping coordinate product requests, special orders, supplier updates and merchandising activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a primary merchandising contact for Sales, national accounts and healthcare account enquiries.
- Communicate urgent supplier, product and promotional updates to sales teams.
- Track and trace special orders, demand status, late inbound deliveries and other operational requests.
- Respond to basic sales and product enquiries using relevant systems and product knowledge.
- Monitor drop-ship orders to ensure products are shipped and invoiced promptly.
- Process special orders and non-stock item requests.
- Manage demand-status orders and coordinate confirmations, receiving and allocation activities.
- Coordinate new item stocking requests and maintain supporting documentation.
- Create and maintain merchandising charts and reports as required.
- Process merchandising-related activities including price management and market cost updates.
- Provide additional sales support during periods of increased demand.
- Research issues, resolve problems and follow up with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure merchandising processes are completed efficiently.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1+ year of relevant experience.
- Experience in purchasing, merchandising, sales and/or customer service.
- Experience within a retail, wholesale or distribution environment preferred.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to research and resolve issues independently.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly and handle basic enquiries without unnecessary escalation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and overcome operational obstacles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions
- Approximately 5% travel.
- Ability to work effectively with sales, merchandising, purchasing and category management teams.
