Job summary

Signet Jewelers, the world’s largest retailer of diamond jewelry, is seeking an Assistant Buyer in Irving, TX. You will assist the Buyer on all merchandising activities, including sourcing, pricing, assortment planning, and forecasting, while supporting weekly and departmental reporting.

You will learn the jewelry category, participate in vendor meetings, and help shape marketing, product testing, and cross-channel initiatives to grow sales and optimize inventory.

Responsibilities

• Assist Buyer on all aspects of the job or step in as needed to help with Merchandise Coordinator/Detail Assistant duties.
• Source and develop product, price product, determine assortment groups, forecast order quantities, and participate in competitive shops.
• Provide weekly reporting and department reports.
• Develop understanding/knowledge base of the Jewelry Category in collaboration with the Buyer.
• Learn merchandising elements applicable to the position and maintain the merchandise category.
• Attend vendor meetings and participate in selection and review of product, taking notes and following up.
• Contribute to determining marketing vehicles, SKU selection, new merchandise programs, and assortments that drive sales and productivity.
• Be jointly accountable for the success of the merchandise category with regards to sales, inventory levels and gross margin goals.
• Participate in ongoing competitive shopping from an omni-channel perspective to identify opportunities.
