Job summary

NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) in Virginia Beach seeks a Merchandising Systems professional to support the day-to-day operation of the BI network and to assist in creating analytic methods for improving merchandise requirements. This role focuses on data-driven reporting, analytics, and BI workflow management.

The position requires three years of merchandising knowledge, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with Excel/Access within the Microsoft Office suite.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in merchandising technical or other responsible work which enabled the applicant to gain a knowledge of merchandising and procurement practices.
• Ability to deal with others in person-to-person work relationships and exercise mature judgment.
• Specialized experience in data warehousing, analytical reporting, or similar work.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes current business trends and projects sales to highlight risks and opportunities.
• Identifies data requirements and merchant needs to develop reports for business analysis.
• Collaborates with end users to identify opportunities for improved analytics and distribution.
• Develops and manages BI analytic workflow and schedule.
• Produces analysis of marketing metrics as scheduled.
• Assists in data collection for updates on BI solution design.
• Executes day-to-day ad hoc analytic requests as needed.
• Reviews planning metrics for accuracy and provides input for corrections.
• Assists in curriculum creation for planning processes and retail BI fundamentals.

Duties And Responsibilities

Analyzes current business trends and projects sales to highlight potential risks and opportunities.

• Identifies data requirements and merchant needs to develop reports used for business analysis.
• Identifies opportunities for improved analytics and distribution by collaborating with end users.
• Develops and manages the business intelligence analytic workflow and schedule
• Develops and provides analysis of marketing metrics as scheduled
• Assists in collection of data for updates on the creative design of the business intelligence solution.
• Performs day-to-day ad hoc analytic requests as needed from Code M.
• Reviews Code M planning metrics for accuracy and provides input for corrections.
• Assists in the creation of curriculum for planning processes and fundamentals for retail math and business intelligence systems.
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Office with a proficiency in Excel and Access.

General Experience

Three years of experience in merchandising technical or other responsible work which enabled the applicant to gain a knowledge of merchandising and procurement practices skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships and the ability to exercise mature judgment.

One year of education above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor s degree for three years of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Three years of experience that provided background in data warehousing analytical reporting analyzing financial results or similar work which demonstrated the knowledge and ability within the operational area.
