Job summary

Goodwill of the Greater Washington is seeking a part-time inventory associate to assist in receiving, sorting, pricing and preparing donated merchandise for display and sale. You will transfer items from containers, sort by category, and ensure items are ready for the sales floor.

• Ability to lift max of 25 lbs frequently.
• Six months of previous work experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in warehouse environment preferred.
• Previous experience with merchandise pricing preferred.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Multilingual with proficiency in English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transfers merchandise from containers to determine appropriateness for the sales floor following guidelines.
• Stays current on brand name, designer labels, current and vintage styles.
• Prepares items for the sales floor; evaluates quality, pricing, value and salability.
• Counts items processed and records on official log.
• Sorts apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories per quota.
• Places items on hangers and transports to the sales floor keeping groups together.
• Counts clothing pieces and records on Daily Hanger Report.
• Places non-sellable merchandise in appropriate container.
• Follows safety and security practices and reports hazards.
• Maintains productivity quotas for pieces processed.
• Maintains clean uniform and appearance.
• Assists in collection and stocking of donated merchandise.
• Provides excellent service to donors and retail customers.
• Performs other duties as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. 1. Transfers merchandise from containers to determine appropriateness for the sales floor in accordance with established guidelines.
2. 2. Stays abreast of brand name, designer labels, current and vintage styles.
3. 3. Prepare items for the sales floor. Evaluate items to determine quality, pricing, value and salability.
4. 4. Counts number of items processed and records on official log.
5. 5. Sorts apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories according to quota.
6. 6. Places items on hangers, places hangers on rolling rack, and transports them to the sales floor keeping similar items grouped.
7. 7. Counts pieces of clothing and records on Daily Hanger Report.
8. 8. Places non-sellable merchandise in the appropriate container.
9. 9. Follows good safety and security practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the manager on duty.
10. 10. Maintains a pace at which one is able to meet required productivity goals (quotas) for pieces processed.
11. 11. Maintains a clean, neat uniform and appearance.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
