Job summary

Pact is seeking a Manager of Merchandise Planning in Boulder, CO to use data to build assortment and financial plans for Men's and Home, with primary ownership of planning the wholesale channel. You will collaborate with Merchandising, Design, Sourcing, and Finance to align style counts, costs, and seasonal plans with Pact's long-range strategy.

You'll move between DTC and wholesale planning as needs shift, lead Open-to-Buy processes, and ensure plans support growth in margin and sales while

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in retail merchandise planning, demand forecasting, allocation/replenishment, or financial planning & analysis.
  • Experience planning across both DTC/ecommerce and wholesale channels.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and ability to manage large datasets.
  • Strong retail math fundamentals and understanding of forecasting methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable stories that influence decisions.
  • Self-starter who takes ownership and thrives with ambiguity.
  • Some experience mentoring, managing, or leading the work of a planner or analyst preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build bottoms-up seasonal merchandise financial plans and assortment architecture (style count, category mix, productivity).
  • Build bottoms-up sales, margin, and inventory plans aligned to financial targets balancing merchandising and delivery capability.
  • Partner with merchandising and sales to build seasonal wholesale plans by account.
  • Participate in seasonal line reviews and cross-functional milestones to keep investment plans aligned.
  • Act as the connective tissue between Merchandising, Sourcing, and Finance.
  • Recommend investment allocation across DTC and wholesale accounts based on channel and account performance.
  • Analyze weekly performance and adjust replenishment and buys to protect margin and inventory targets.

Pre-Season
  • Partner with Merchandising and Design to build bottoms up seasonal merchandise financial plans and assortment architecture (style count, category mix, productivity) for Men's and Home.
  • Build bottoms-up sales, margin, and inventory plans that ladder up to company financial targets — balancing merchandising ambition against what the business can realistically deliver.
  • Partner with merchandising and sales to build seasonal wholesale plans by account.
  • Participate in seasonal line reviews and cross-functional milestones with Design, Sourcing, Finance, Ecommerce, and Wholesale to keep investment plans aligned.
  • Act as the connective tissue between Merchandising, Sourcing/Production, and Finance.
  • Recommend how to allocate investment across DTC and wholesale accounts based on channel and account performance.
In-Season
  • Analyze the business weekly, track actuals against plan by category and account.
  • Analyze in-season sales performance and recommend reactive buys, markdowns, or chase opportunities — including replenishment and fill-in orders for wholesale accounts.
  • Prepare and present in monthly business reviews with clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Build analysis that turns data into insight, what's working, what isn't, and why, to improve future assortments.
  • Manage the monthly Open-to-Buy process end-to-end; reconciling actual sales and receipts against plan, adjusting future buys to protect margin and inventory targets, and flagging variances
Post-Season
  • Recap category and channel KPIs — sell-through, margin, full-price vs. markdown mix— detailing risks, opportunities, and drivers.
  • Lead the hindsight process, turning season learnings into concrete inputs for the next plan.
  • Own and continuously improve planning tools and models to drive faster and more accurate plans.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in retail merchandise planning, demand forecasting, allocation/replenishment, or financial planning & analysis (apparel experience strongly preferred).
  • Experience planning across both DTC/ecommerce and wholesale channels a plus.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, can organize and manage large datasets to guide decisions.
  • Strong retail math fundamentals and understanding of forecasting methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable stories that influence decisions.
  • Comfortable balancing brand ambition with the practical constraints of a lean, fast-moving, mission-driven company.
  • Genuine interest in sustainable and ethical fashion — you care about the story behind the product, not just the numbers.
  • Self-starter who takes ownership without waiting to be told what to do next. Thrives with ambiguity.

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience; estimated at $110k-130k per year
