Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market is seeking a Merchandise Planning Analyst to lead and coordinate planning, forecasting and reporting for the Merchandising department. You will analyze business initiatives to identify opportunities and risks and deliver insights to cross‑functional partners to improve financial performance.

The role requires a strong analytical background, experience with budgeting and forecasting systems, and the ability to present findings to merchandising leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in financial analysis.
  • Retail or grocery industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with budgeting, planning, modeling, and forecasting systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analytical and decision‑making skills, and ability to work on cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of long‑range financial planning and annual budgets, including building financial models to support accurate planning and influence decision making.
  • Support forecast processes, summarizing highlights, business drivers, risks, and opportunities for the merchandising department.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to help merchants achieve department revenue and profit goals.
  • Conduct regular reviews of pricing, promotion, and assortment to support decision making.
  • Execute pre‑post analysis of merchandising tests.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly presentations for merchandising leadership.
  • Generate weekly promotional effectiveness reports and ad planning metrics.
  • Report on key business metrics, including department/category performance analysis.
  • Partner with the business to understand variances from forecast and budget and relay ongoing implications.
  • Serve as project lead for ad‑hoc projects, managing objectives, deliverables, and milestones with minimal supervision.
  • Support the manager in coaching and developing junior team members.

Overview
