Job Summary

The Planner is responsible for developing monthly financial plans and forecasts that align with the department strategy. Working cross‑functionally with the merchant in the forecasting process, you will maximize sales and profit while effectively turning inventory within the open‑to‑buy. You will use analytics to drive the most profitable product life cycle, including end‑of‑life management. Planners oversee and provide direction to allocation partners to ensure that the right products are available in the right retail channel at the right time, meeting member expectations while achieving sales and profitability for the assigned department.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for financials and department forecasting; strong knowledge of business metrics (sales, margin, inventory KPIs).
• Support the creation of an optimal assortment and strategic flow plans. Build effective sales and inventory plans to drive profitability. Influence inventory productivity to include end‑of‑life activity.
• Identify and recognize business opportunities 1 to 6 months out by analyzing trends within the business; strong knowledge of market trends and ability to apply them to categories planned.
• Partner with Buyer(s) to develop a monthly department‑level bottom‑up forecast with a focus on sales, margin, and inventory targets consistent with the category strategy.
• Evaluate and communicate opportunities and risks, including reacting to sales trends and inventory flow, and suggest markdowns and promotions to achieve sales, margin, and inventory objectives.
• Build and execute new business opportunities by measuring results and providing recommendations.
• Accountable for ensuring department inventory plans and flow are successfully executed for new club openings.
• Manage demand forecasts within JDA Demand or BY LDE to ensure order optimization.
• Manage article‑level ladder plans and build up to financial plans.

Job Qualifications

• Preferred 2‑5 years’ experience.
• Understand financial metrics including sales, margin, inventory turn, weeks of supply.
• Strong problem‑solving, retail math, and analytical skills.
• Organize thoughts and communicate credibly and concisely.
• Present to and influence team members and business partners by utilizing relevant data and fact‑based information to articulate results. Provide recommendations in a clear, concise manner.
• Work independently with minimal supervision as well as cross‑functionally.
• Critical thinker who can interact professionally with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Desire to coach, mentor, and onboard.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with planning software.

Pay Range

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non‑discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $62,000 – $81,500.

Location and Schedule

This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in‑office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.
