Merchandise Manager Description

Reports To: Head Golf Professional
Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Job Summary and Position Objective:
To assist the Head Golf Professional in providing outstanding service to Members and their guests. To provide the Membership with a great selection of merchandise in a neat and orderly manner for the Golf Shop.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide excellent service to members and their guests making them feel welcome and comfortable.
  2. Directly responsible for Golf Shop appearance including displays and order of store.
  3. Maintain a professional manner when selling Golf Shop merchandise by anticipating member needs and buying habits.
  4. Answer phones and handle starting time reservations for members.
  5. Assist Head Golf Professional in ordering of men's and ladies' apparel.
  6. Manage all special order business through the Golf Shop (special order book).
  7. Process inventory from receiving to pricing to reconciliation with accounting.
  8. Handle dealings with Club Essentials POS system.
  9. Assist with member-sponsored outings.
  10. Track “open to buy” dollars through “OTB” retail analysis.
  11. Organize storage room.
  12. Organize monthly inventory and ensure appropriate staff assists in the monthly count.
  13. Maintain a file cabinet with a pertinent day-to-day log of merchandise sales and create new files as needed.
  14. Oversee artwork files and quality of logoing of goods.
  15. Create a Member database including size reference cards, favorite styles, and all buying habits.
  16. Set up processes to receive goods and put into inventory.
  17. Order Golf Shop items (gift bags and incidental shopping items).

Required Competencies/Skills:
Should possess a friendly and courteous attitude.

Required Experience:
Prior experience as a Merchandiser.

Measures of Performance:
90 Day Evaluation/Annual Evaluations.

Work Environment:
50% of work in outside environment. Must be able to withstand heat/conditions outside.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb, stoop, bend, reach & extend as needed, stand/walk for an 8-hour shift.

Expected Hours of Work:
40 Hours a Week.

Education/Training Requirements:
AGM Certified.

Preferred Education and Experience:
College Degree Preferred.
