Job summary

Universal Technical Institute in Long Beach, CA invites experienced instructors to partner with Mercedes-Benz to deliver hands-on curriculum at Learning & Performance Centers and OEM locations. You will lead demonstrations, mentor technicians, and develop lesson plans while maintaining safety and quality standards.

This on-site role offers weekends off, paid training, tuition waiver after six months for you and your immediate family, plus a competitive benefits package including health, vision

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
• Mercedes-Benz vehicle experience is required.
• Instructional experience is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Overview

Working in concert with Original Equipment Manufacturer Mercedes-Benz personnel, deliver curriculum at various Mercedes-Benz Learning & Performance Centers, or other OEM locations. This position will provide instruction, coaching, technical expertise, and encouragement while allowing technicians or students structured opportunities to improve their own proficiency. They will utilize state-of-the‑art audiovisual equipment and workshop exercises to enhance the technician’s automotive knowledge.

Work closely with OEM on all curriculum updates and participate in periodic Train-the-Trainer events with Mercedes-Benz.

In this position, your "tools" change, but your impact grows. You won't just be fixing cars; you’ll be building careers. You will lead hands‑on training, develop specialized curriculum, and mentor technicians who will carry your standards of excellence into the industry.

Responsibilities

• Inspire and Educate: Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where technicians can flourish, fostering their passion for Mercedes-Benz while imparting your expert knowledge.
• Hands‑On Training:
  • Lead by example and provide practical demonstrations, ensuring students and or technicians gain real‑world experience in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing various systems.
  • Deliver prepared curriculum through multimedia techniques
  • Organizes, communicates, and delivers learning objectives in a clear, concise manner through well‑paced lessons while maintaining appropriate classroom and lab content.
  • Travel is to be expected at 25%.
• Curriculum Development: Helps to develop classroom‑ready curriculum from original equipment manufacturer products and service manuals. (Develops and creates lesson plans, visual materials, evaluations, practical applications, and demonstrations).
• Mentorship:Guide and mentor students on their individual projects, encouraging them to think critically and find innovative solutions.
• Safety First: Instill the importance of safety procedures and best practices to ensure a secure working environment for everyone, meeting/exceeding the expectations and brand standards of the OEM.
• Administrative:
• Adhere to all the guidelines of the OEM Corporate Travel Policy
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience:
  • Technical experience with Mercedes Benz vehicles required.
  • Instructional experience preferred
• Communication Skills:Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to effectively connect with technicians/students and fellow staff
• Organizational Skills: Planning, prioritization skills, time management skills, and deadline‑oriented, can adapt to face a changing environment
• Computer skills:Knowledge of MS Office
• Patience and Empathy:A patient, motivational, and empathetic approach to teaching, understanding that every student/technician learns at their own pace
• Professionalism:Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, using good judgment, and able to support flexible/adaptable work schedules
