Qualifications

  • 7+ years in a field leadership role for a GC/EC/MC contractor.
  • 4+ years as Superintendent overseeing mechanical, electrical, or low-voltage systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred.
  • Experience on hyper-scale or data center projects with MEP emphasis.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and low-voltage systems and codes.
  • Willingness to relocate or travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead MEP subcontractors throughout project duration.
  • Develop CPM schedules for MEP activities and values for billing.
  • Coordinate materials, procurement, logistics, and site plans with leadership.
  • Support commissioning activities and review systems performance.
  • Review documents and suggest improvements; mentor MEP engineers.
  • Coordinate submittals, shop drawings, and communications with owners.

McCarthys Mission Critical Business Unit is seeking a skilled MEP Superintendent to lead the effort in coordinating Mechanical, Electrical, and low voltage disciplines. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing the MEP scopes of work and success in working with Superintendents, Project Managers and the rest of the project team to ensure successful completion of the MEP scopes of work.

This is a full-time, site-based position that may require extensive travel to locations that span the continental U.S. Travel subsistence and additional incentives provided per company guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage and lead MEP subcontractors throughout the duration of the project
  • Assist in developing detailed CPM schedules for all MEP installation activities and in developing a schedule of values to aid the billing process
  • Coordinate activities, schedule, material procurement, project logistics and temporary facility plans with the general building superintendent, project manager and field staff
  • Understand and assist with commissioning activities
  • Review and approve materials/equipment for Mechanical and Electrical systems and monitor the installation, startup, and commissioning of those systems, resolving any conflicts prior to starting work
  • Prepare reports and communicate progress to project managers/directors as needed, and to project owners during weekly meetings
  • Review contract documents and make improvements suggestions as needed
  • Supervise, develop and mentor MEP Project Engineers
  • Supervise review and coordination of submittals and shop drawings
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in a field leadership position for a General Contractor, Electrical Contractor, or Mechanical Contractor
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in the capacity of a Superintendent specifically overseeing the mechanical, electrical, or low voltage systems
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred
  • Proven track record as a Superintendent on hyper scale, large commercial, or small-scale Mission Critical or Data Center, Critical Facilities, and other MEP-heavy commercial or industrial projects in the capacity of a General Contractor, Electrical Contractor, or Mechanical Contractor
  • Thorough knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and low-voltage systems
  • General understanding of building codes, mechanical codes, electrical codes and plumbing codes as they relate to construction of project
  • Experience dealing with MEP subcontracts and subcontractors
  • Must be geographically mobile, able to relocate and/or travel
