Job summary

HCBeck, LTD. is seeking a skilled MEP professional in Wisconsin to manage the integration and delivery of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout the project lifecycle. This role demands a solid foundation in pre-construction processes and design oversight across various commercial and industrial projects.

The ideal candidate will possess at least 8 years of construction experience along with expertise in HVAC and plumbing systems.

Job description

About the Role

The MEP Component Team is responsible for early project definition, integration, and delivery of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across the project lifecycle. The role focuses on ensuring performance, cost, and constructability of MEP systems from concept through commissioning.

Responsibilities
  • Early Phase Definition (Pre‑EOR Engagement)
    • Creation of Design Narratives
    • Concept + SD MEP reviews
    • Preliminary budgeting & infrastructure planning
    • Major risk identification
    • Existing conditions assessments (renovation work)
    • Capacity, loads, and code baseline validation
  • Design Oversight & Integration
    • Peer reviews (SD / DD / CD)
    • Design gap identification
    • Code compliance checks
    • Constructability analysis (clearances, routing, access)
    • Interface management between consultants & internal teams
    • Alignment of design intent with budget & schedule
  • Procurement & Cost Control
    • Subcontractor bid leveling
    • Scope gap identification ("gotchas")
    • Ensuring 100% scope coverage
    • Value analysis / cost optimization without degrading performance
  • Execution Support & System Delivery
    • Field technical support (PMs & Supers)
    • RFI resolution / conflict troubleshooting
    • Installation support
    • Commissioning assistance
    • System performance alignment
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of pre‑construction or commercial construction experience
  • 5+ years of relevant MEP pre‑construction / estimating experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • Deep understanding of commercial HVAC and plumbing systems
  • Strong grasp of IPC, IMC, and ASHRAE standards
  • Experience with commercial projects (office, hotel, religious, life science, mission critical, health‑care) and industrial facilities (pharmaceutical, manufacturing/assembly)
  • Expert in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office products
Physical Demands

Frequent computer usage; ladder and stair use; outdoor work in various weather conditions; lifting up to 50 lbs; frequent site communication; ability to move around uneven surfaces; standing for extended periods; consistent attendance required.
