Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a Project Engineer to support the project team on multiple small to large projects and to serve as a lead technical resource on smaller projects. The role involves coordinating with management, handling change orders, and assembling submittal packages while procuring equipment and subcontractors.

The ideal candidate holds a engineering degree with 3+ years of experience and has strong knowledge of HVAC/plumbing systems, plan reading, and proficiency with CAD and MS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or applicable experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, etc., and general system operations.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including CADD and Excel/Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with management and stakeholders and informs them on issues affecting timeline and budget.
• Manages change orders; expedites materials and estimates impact of changes.
• Interprets plans and specifications.
• Assembles submittal packages and other project documentation.

Position Summary

• Manages change orders. Ensures they are completed accurately and tracked as required. Expedites material as needed. Estimates the impact of project changes.

• Provides interpretation of plans and specifications.

• Assembles complete submittal packages and other required project documentation information.

• Procures equipment and materials and services; and participates in selection and hiring of subcontractors.

• Analyzes and resolves more complex questions and problems as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or applicable experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience

• In-depth knowledge of applicable systems design, such as HVAC, plumbing, etc., as well as general understanding of system operations.

• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office Products, such as Excel
