Job summary

Azar Design Co. in New York is seeking experienced MEP professionals to support sitewide NYC projects. The role emphasizes design and construction coordination across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems.

You will collaborate with design professionals, construction managers, contractors, and public agencies to ensure codes, constructability, and field readiness. Strong communication and 8+ years of experience are required; PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 8+ years of progressive MEP engineering and construction experience on large-scale commercial, institutional, transportation, infrastructure, or public-sector projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NYC Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Building, and Fire Codes.
  • Experience working with public agency standards and requirements, including SCA, DASNY, DDC, MTA, and Port Authority.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction documents, engineering drawings, specifications, MEP schematics, and shop drawings.
  • Experience with HVAC and mechanical systems, equipment installation, piping systems, equipment replacement, and rehabilitation.
  • Knowledge of construction means and methods, sequencing, procurement, and field coordination.
  • Strong technical documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, multidisciplinary design and construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide MEP engineering and construction support throughout all project phases.
  • Review MEP designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documents for constructability, coordination, and code compliance.
  • Review and coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems.
  • Identify design conflicts, constructability issues, and potential field challenges and recommend solutions.
  • Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, RFIs, change orders, and technical specifications.
  • Support MEP equipment installation, replacement, rehabilitation, testing, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Coordinate mechanical equipment, piping systems, equipment anchorage, structural supports, bolting, welding, and related installation requirements.
  • Provide field engineering and technical support to construction teams.
  • Coordinate MEP systems with architectural, structural, civil, and other disciplines.
  • Support procurement and technical evaluation of MEP equipment and materials.
  • Perform field observations and verify that work complies with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and project requirements.
  • Assist with inspections, testing, commissioning, punch lists, documentation, and project closeout.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation using construction management and inspection platforms.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design and construction teams to resolve complex technical and field issues.

Job description

Azar Design Co., a multidisciplinary architecture, engineering, surveying, environmental, and construction management firm with over 45 years of experience, is seeking experienced MEP professionals in design and construction to support various sitewide projects in NYC area. We are looking for highly qualified professionals with extensive experience delivering large-scale public infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will work closely with design professionals, construction managers, contractors, subcontractors, owners, and public agencies to ensure MEP systems are properly designed, coordinated, constructible, and successfully delivered in the field. Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated experience supporting design and/or construction teams.
  • Strong knowledge of NYC Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Building, and Fire Codes.
