A leading organization is seeking a Lead Instructor for the Massachusetts Migrant Education Program. The role involves coordinating direct service programming, supporting instructors, and ensuring effective communication with students and families. This part-time position includes remote instruction and home visits, providing opportunities for students to enhance their English skills. Compensation is competitive, with flexible hours based on program needs.

Title: Lead Instructor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to:Migrant Programming and Partnership Manager/State Program Director
Purpose: Lead Instructors will assist the Migrant Programming and Partnership Manager with the coordination of direct service programming. This can include supporting other instructors, student/family communication, creating and monitoring case loads, ensuring coordinated service delivery and organizing and delivering materials to instructors.
Essential Functions:
Establishing key learning objectives and plan for student sessions with individual instructors
Review and organize materials before sessions
Support instructors in creating and maintaining a positive and fun environment that is engaging and enjoyable for students
Track and record attendance and participation in a timely manner
Communicate directly with assigned families/students if required
Communicate regularly with assigned supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
Access to reliable and insured vehicle
One year of teaching experience in an informal or formal setting
Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
Able to pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) screening
Instructional Setting:
English Language/Life Skills Program- Instructors will provide classes to small groups of students and in some cases individual students. Instruction is almost exclusively remote via Google Meet in evenings and weekends.
Site-based Summer Program- The instructors will engage students in project-based learning while also giving them the opportunity to practice their English skills and communication skills. Lead instructors will facilitate a set daily schedule of activities and lead the other instructors in the day-to-day program.
Summer home-based Program- Instructors will make a series of one to three home visits to individual and small groups of students. They will facilitate fun and creative activities that also provide students with the opportunity to practice their English skills. Visits will range from one to two hours and can take place at the student's home or in a park, library or another public space nearby.
Physical Demands:
Able to travel to and between site visit locations
Ability to multi-task and respond to plan alterations with a positive mindset
Must be able to communicate and converse effectively with youth and adults from multiple backgrounds and cultures in Spanish
Work Conditions:
Requires working a flexible schedule potentially including evening
Employees expected to follow CES Workplace Safety Standards
Frequent independent travel required
Terms of Employment:
Part-time; 8-40 hours per week
Weekly hours are dependent on program needs
Temporary; 8-10 week positions
Compensation is $35.70/hr
This position can be held at the same time as the instructor position. Hours worked providing direct instruction will be compensated at the instructor rate of pay of $31.60/hour
