Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. in San Diego is seeking an Intern for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience in the MEP field and learn how modern building systems are integrated from design through construction.

You will support mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls and low-voltage activities on a designated project, with duties scaled to your education and skill level; strong collaboration and problem solving are valued.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled and working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong interpersonal skills are required.
• General familiarity with construction concepts, practices and procedures is required.

Responsibilities

• Supports mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and low-voltage systems on a designated jobsite or project location.
• Gains exposure to complex building systems and the MEP process.
• Duties are dependent on education level and skill, with increasing responsibility over the duration of the internship.
