Job summary

Fenagh Engineering & Testing provides special inspections, materials testing, and geotechnical engineering services. The MEP Inspector will assess mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems during construction to ensure compliance with plans, codes, safety standards, and project requirements.

Responsibilities include inspecting HVAC, electrical, and plumbing installations, reviewing submittals, documenting findings, and performing testing and commissioning of MEP systems.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspections simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations on construction projects.
  • Verify work complies with approved drawings, specifications, local building codes, and industry standards.
  • Inspect HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, electrical distribution systems, lighting, fire alarm systems, plumbing systems, and associated equipment.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and material approvals as required.
  • Identify deficiencies, non-conforming work, and code violations and document findings.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate project records.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure quality control and adherence to project schedules.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and government agencies regarding inspection findings and corrective actions.
  • Perform testing and commissioning inspections for MEP systems.
  • Verify completion of corrective actions and conduct follow-up inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project safety requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical recommendations as needed.

Position Summary

The MEP Inspector is responsible for inspecting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems during construction to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, applicable codes, safety standards, and project requirements. The inspector works closely with contractors, engineers, project managers, and regulatory authorities to verify installation quality and ensure successful project completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations on construction projects.
  • Verify work complies with approved drawings, specifications, local building codes, and industry standards.

Qualifications
Education
  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
  • 3-7+ years of experience in MEP inspection, construction quality control, facilities engineering, or related field.
  • Experience inspecting commercial, industrial, institutional, or residential construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction methods, building systems, and commissioning processes.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction practices.
  • Understanding of International Building Code (IBC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), National Electrical Code (NEC), International Plumbing Code (IPC), and applicable local regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspections simultaneously.
Preferred Certifications
  • ICC Certified Inspector
  • Certified Building Inspector (CBI)
  • OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Training
  • Certified Construction Inspector (CCI)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred but not required)
