Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an MEP Estimator II to gather, calculate, and compile data to produce project estimates. For smaller projects, this role will also prepare full estimates.

Responsibilities include creating project estimates, performing quantity takeoffs, soliciting trade bid estimates, and assisting with RFPs and schedules. Training will be provided to new estimators and interns.

Qualifications

  • Degree in estimating, civil or electrical engineering, construction management.
  • At least three years of construction operations experience.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Create project estimates.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and material summations.
  • Solicit bid estimates from trade partners and project time projections.
  • Coordinate RFP documents and schedules to estimate General Contractor items.
  • Determine pricing options for projects.
  • Support lead estimator with data input into estimating software.
  • Archive cost data and historical records.
  • Participate in plan/estimate review meetings and site investigations.
  • Assist in gathering information from government/private entities affecting projects.
  • Train new estimators and interns.

Job description

Summary

Mortenson is currently seeking an MEP Estimator II who will be responsible for gathering, calculating, and compiling data in order to produce project estimates; for smaller projects, this position will also prepare the full estimate.

Responsibilities
  • Create Project Estimates
  • Complete quantity takeoffs and summations of materials
  • Solicit trade partners, obtain bid estimates, and time projections for preparing vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets
  • Help in preparing, organizing, and coordinating Request for Proposal documents and schedules, utilizing schedule information to estimate General Contractor's and other schedule-driven items
  • Determine all pricing options and the appropriate price for the project
  • Support lead estimator in data input into estimating software program(s)
  • Perform archive filing and historical cost data gathering
  • Participate in plan and estimate review meetings, other project review meetings, and site investigations, as needed
  • Support lead estimator in gathering information from local government and private entities that may affect project (i.e. permits, hearings, etc.)
  • Help manage Addendum log and documents from customers/clients
  • Provide direction to new Estimators and Engineers as they join the team
  • Solicit new bidders when needed, and gather necessary documents for inclusion in future projects
  • Will provide training to other estimators and interns
Qualifications
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Estimating, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience
  • Minimum three year's construction operations experience, including exposure to materials management and project operations
  • Current driver's license
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
  • Applicable mathematical skills
  • Familiarity with building/estimating techniques and software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth
  • Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies

The base pay range for this role is $91,700 - $123,800. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
