The role involves on‑site embedding, partnering with contractors, owners, architects, IORs, HCAI/OSHPD field staff, and internal design teams to verify MEP systems are installed in accordance with approved documents, design intent, applicable codes, and WSP quality standards.

Your Impact
  • Provide mechanical and plumbing construction administration support from construction commencement through project close‑out.
  • Review and coordinate responses to RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, deferred approvals, product data, field reports, and other construction‑phase documentation for MEP systems.
  • Maintain regular on‑site presence; perform field observations, IOR coordination, punch walks, and follow‑up reviews to verify installation quality, constructability, code compliance, and alignment with approved HCAI/OSHPD documents.
  • Support issue resolution in collaboration with contractors, IORs, HCAI/OSHPD field staff, architects, owners, and internal project teams.
  • Review change orders, field directives, and proposed substitutions; assist with field clarifications, constructability evaluations, and assessment of cost/schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate with internal mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, fire/life safety, medical equipment, and architectural teams to resolve field conflicts, above‑ceiling coordination issues, utility tie‑ins, and live healthcare environment constraints.
  • Support commissioning, start‑up reviews, and close‑out documentation as required.
  • Assist with QA/QC reviews to ensure alignment with WSP standards, approved construction documents, HCAI/OSHPD comments, contract requirements, and project‑specific healthcare criteria.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, contractors, IORs, HCAI/OSHPD field staff, design professionals, and project stakeholders during OAC meetings, construction meetings, site walks, and issue‑resolution discussions.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Building Sciences, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, HCAI/OSHPD healthcare construction experience, Inspector of Record (IOR) experience, construction administration, field inspection, commissioning, or contractor‑side project delivery experience.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience supporting building system projects, with a strong emphasis on construction administration.
  • Hands‑on experience reviewing and interpreting construction documents, specifications, and submittal packages.
  • Working knowledge of MEP systems including HVAC, hydronic systems, air distribution, infection‑control/pressure relationship requirements, domestic water, sanitary, storm, specialty waste, and medical gas systems.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards, including California Building Standards Code/Title 24, HCAI/OSHPD requirements, ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC, IPC/CPC, FGI Guidelines, and local AHJs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, and construction management platforms; ability to navigate construction drawings, models, submittal logs, RFI logs, and field documentation efficiently.
  • Current or prior experience serving as, or directly coordinating with, an HCAI/OSHPD Inspector of Record (IOR) on California healthcare projects. HCAI Certified Hospital Inspector Class A or Class B certification is strongly preferred; Class C specialty certification may be considered where aligned with project scope.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE), California contractor/inspection credentials, HCAI hospital inspector certification, or ability to obtain relevant credentials.
  • Experience supporting acute care hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, imaging/procedural suites, behavioral health, higher education, or complex commercial projects.
