Job description

Position Overview

Manage, evaluate, and assess information related to Mechanical and Electrical systems necessary to construct the project on time in a safe manner, within budget, and to the quality specified by the contract documents.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead the project team, subcontractors, owner's consultants, and representatives to ensure optimal alignment and efficient systems installation.
  • Prepare and manage the contract item's list for all components, materials, and systems to ensure all ROJ dates comply with the project schedule with appropriate approval status.
  • Participate in schedule update meetings and provide the latest information for accurate scheduling.
  • Evaluate and manage the processing of RFIs.
  • Manage the budget, including reviewing, evaluating, and negotiating all change orders, with an understanding of the financial status of all subcontractors.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor Assistant MEP Engineers.
  • Co-lead the MEP Coordination Process with the VDC Engineer, ensuring installation complies with design, operations, and quality standards.
  • Prepare scope of work documents with responsibilities for trades and specific scopes for temporary operations.
  • Partner with the MEP Superintendent to resolve conflicts between mechanical and electrical systems, site logistics, and project schedule.
  • Co-lead the turnover process, including start-up, testing, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Conduct regular project walkthroughs to ensure work proceeds according to contract documents and approved submittals.
  • Identify and communicate difficult installation requirements to field staff for proper planning.
  • Manage municipal and agency documentation for system operation and temporary certificates.
  • Create and implement the quality control plan with the MEP Superintendent.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with at least four years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience related to mechanical and electrical systems. Must have technical expertise, understanding of systems, business acumen, excellent communication skills, organizational ability, and leadership qualities to develop a high-performing team.

Physical Demands

Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and negotiate construction areas. Visual and physical abilities include close and peripheral vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Work Environment

Primarily on-site at construction locations, exposed to mechanical parts, heights, airborne particles, weather conditions, and electrical hazards. Noise levels are moderate to very loud.
