Job summary

AMPAM is seeking an entry‑level Design Technician I to assist with the design and drafting of plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems for multi‑family projects in California. You will produce accurate, code‑compliant drawings and coordination layouts using CAD and BIM tools under senior guidance.

You will gain hands‑on experience, mentorship, and a clear development path while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on site visits and project coordination tasks.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate in mechanical, electrical, architectural engineering technology or related field.
• Autodesk Certifications (CAD, REVIT, Navisworks, Bluebeam) preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience in MEP design, drafting, or construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed MEP design drawings for plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Update AutoCAD and Revit models under supervision of senior staff.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, and other disciplines for integration and constructability.
• Perform basic load sizing, pipe sizing, duct layout, and circuiting calculations as directed.
• Maintain project files, drawing sets, and revision logs.
• Review design documents for accuracy and compliance with codes and standards.
• Support BIM coordination, QA/QC, and respond to design inquiries.
• Learn and apply codes such as UPC, UMC, NEC, and local building codes.
• Provide admin and technical support to senior engineers and project managers.
• Support QA/QC reviews of design documents for accuracy and constructability.
