This individual will have significant responsibility for project financial performance, execution strategy, client relationships, and coordination across multiple project stakeholders.
The Senior Project Manager will serve as a key leader within the project team, providing direction to project managers, project engineers, and field leadership while ensuring projects meet established financial, schedule, safety, and quality objectives. This role is well suited for an experienced mechanical construction professional who can manage complexity, resolve high-level project challenges, and contribute to the development of less-experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead large and complex mechanical construction projects from preconstruction, estimating handoff, and planning through execution, commissioning, and closeout.
- Establish project execution strategies, budgets, schedules, procurement plans, staffing requirements, and cost-control procedures.
- Maintain accountability for project profitability, forecasting, labor productivity, change management, billing, and cash flow.
- Oversee project managers, project engineers, coordinators, and field leadership as assigned.
- Manage relationships with general contractors, owners, engineers, design partners, subcontractors, and key vendors.
- Lead contract reviews, scope validation, risk assessments, value engineering, constructability reviews, and change-order negotiations.
- Identify project risks and implement strategies to mitigate schedule delays, cost overruns, material shortages, design conflicts, and labor constraints.
- Coordinate closely with field operations to align manpower, equipment, material procurement, installation sequencing, and project milestones.
- Lead project reviews and communicate financial status, forecast changes, schedule performance, and risk exposure to senior management.
- Establish consistent project management practices and promote accountability across project teams.
- Mentor and develop project managers and project engineers, reinforcing sound financial management, communication, and execution practices.
- Support client retention, repeat business, and business development through strong project delivery and relationship management.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience managing large-scale commercial or industrial mechanical construction projects.
- Strong technical understanding of HVAC, plumbing, process or building piping, sheet metal, and related mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, forecasting, contract administration, change orders, and financial performance.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating with field operations.
- Proven ability to manage complex schedules, procurement challenges, design coordination, and competing stakeholder priorities.
- Strong client-facing communication, negotiation, decision-making, and leadership skills.
- Experience mentoring project management personnel and improving project execution practices.
- Proficiency with construction project management, scheduling, cost-control, and reporting systems.
Ideal Candidate
A commercially minded mechanical construction leader who combines technical knowledge with financial discipline and strong people leadership. This individual can independently lead major projects, strengthen project team performance, manage executive-level client relationships, and serve as a trusted resource to company leadership.
